IPSWICH Witches League Cup clash with Plymouth was called off at 6.30pm Thursday night.
IPSWICH Witches League Cup clash with Plymouth Devils was called off at 6.30pm on Thursday night.
The Foxhall circuit was soaking wet and despite long talks with the riders, it was decided the track was too wet and dangerous to race on.
No re-scheduled date has been announced.
Witches director Chris Louis said: “The last rain we had at the track was 3.30pm but it was quite intense.
“But Plymouth were on the road by then so we hoped if we had no more rain we could perhaps get the track ready.
“But what has really made things difficult is that there was a very wet stockcar meeting on Monday and we haven’t had the usual amount of time to prepare the track, so there was little more we could do.
“We aren’t blaming the stockcars, we share the stadium with them and that’s not a problem. It was just circumstance. They had a wet meeting and so have we and the track hasn’t been able to recover in time.”
Witches captain Kevin Doolan said: “We couldn’t do nothing more with the track and it’s very disappointing.
“The only excitement you would have seen tonight were crashes, because there would not have been much racing. After the start to the season we have had with injuries, we couldn’t risk that.”
