IPSWICH ‘Sackers’ Witches’ disappointing campaign ended in despair on Sunday evening as they were comprehensively beaten by Newcastle in the second leg of the KO Cup final.

Trailing 48-42 after a tough evening at Foxhall 24 hours earlier, the Witches struggled to get to grips with the wet conditions in Newcastle, as they had on a heavily-dusted home track the night before.

On the night they were soundly beaten 58-32, with Leigh Lanham and Dakota North top-scoring with nine points.

“There was only going to be one winner tonight,” said team manager Pete Simmons.

“The track was wet but Newcastle were up for it from the first race, whereas we tend to be a bit more tentative in those situations.

He added: “We are already team-building for next season and maybe there are three or four lads in the team already that will come back and do better for us next season.

“But until the contracts are signed, nothing is concrete.”

  • So here endith another awful season with no success at all that now makes 14 years with nowt !!! Something is very wrong at foxhall and the management team are at the forefront with very little ambition if any. Things need to change big time in 2013 otherwise the few fans that are left will cease to support a dud team.
